"He made the
Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning and makes
the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea and pours them
out on the face of the earth; the Lord is His Name."
Amos 5:8
At times, situations arise in life that can cause us to begin to wonder
if we will ever get through them. We've all been there. It's during
these times of adverse circumstance that the enemy comes to our minds
attempting to capitalize on the situation, telling us we'll never get
through it and that all is lost!
If the situation has been going on for a long period of time, our
tendency may be to think things may never change. We begin to become
irritable, our joy is lost, and depression may even attempt to set in.
All because we have lost our hope of things ever turning around.
In the above verse of Scripture, it begins by reminding us that our God
is the one who created the heavens and the earth. It goes on to say that
He is the one who set the days and the nights in order, and set them in
motion - in other words, we need to be reminded of the fact that our God
is the Master Creator and is very much still in control. He keeps the
universe in balance and therefore is able to remedy our situation.
The next part of this verse is a wonderful truth for you to hold onto,
are you ready to shout for joy?! He turns the shadow of death into
morning! Praise the Lord, hallelujah!!!
Our God is the God of life. The enemy will always try to get your eyes
off of that truth. He wants you to focus on the destruction and onto
natural ways. Understand this: the enemy has already been defeated for
us. He is under our feet (Luke 10:19). So according to that truth, all
of his actions toward us are but a smoke screen, or a shadow of death in
light of the promises of the Word of God.
I once heard someone say that the shadow of a dog never bit any one! But
the shadow can "look" real convincing. If you're not careful you'll get
your eyes off of the Word and focused onto the situation, fearing it's
ability to overtake you. That's what smoke screens are designed to do.
The truth that will bring joy and rekindle hope, is the promise that He
will turn the shadow of death into morning. The morning brings about a
new day, new possibilities, and a new horizon! That's our God. The God
of new beginnings.
Jesus said in John
10:10 - "The thief does not come except to steal, and
to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it more abundantly."
Obviously, we're all familiar with the phrase "the shadow of death," as
it is spoken of in the 23rd Psalm. I love the promise regarding the
shadow of death that is given there. "Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs
over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever."
Now that will get you happy! Did you see it? The attack of the enemy
comes, but when we go through it, in faith, knowing He is with us, - God
determines that it's party time! He throws a party, a feast for us right
is the midst of the attack. Right in the face of the enemy! Then He
brings refreshing and brings about abundant blessing.
He's anointed our head with oil - He's saying you are anointed to
overcome, you are anointed to prosper, you are anointed for success, you
are anointed for victory. Oh, let us get a picture of that on the inside
and begin to expect what He's promised.
So in the midst of your situation, right now where you are - get the
"party spirit" going down deep on the inside of you, and begin to get
ready to feast. Get your eyes off of the problem and onto the promise
because the morning is coming!!!
