The road ahead seems endless
With curves ahead, unseen
Consumed by unknown 'morrows
From where you've always been.

The pathway looks deserted
No faces smiling there,
The edges tinged with darkness
With none that seem to care.

Your heart cries out with anguish
To face another day,
Come, something, someone-
A friend to ease the way.

Oh, break the endless roadway
The aching miles that stretch,
Bring living streams, some comfort-
A place of warmth and rest.

Hearken, there, two birds that sing
The song that Jesus sends,
Listen long, their call's from Him
The Saviour, is Your friend.

He came with love to die for you
His life, to you to give,
The life of God it is for you-
Look up, and cry, and live.

Believe Him for tomorrow,
He'll walk with you the path,
Trust the plan He has for you,
His love can heal your heart.

But how shall we rest in God? By giving ourselves wholly to Him.
If you give yourself by halves, you cannot find full rest -
there will ever be a lurking disquiet in that half which is withheld...
All peace and joy in this world depend upon unreserved self-oblation to God.
If this be hearty and entire, the result will be an unfailing, ever-increasing joy,
which nothing can disturb. There is no real joy in this life
save that which is the result of a peaceful heart.
