Could It Possibly Be God

It seems so often in our busy life
we rush right through our day
and too often fail to notice
all the good that comes our way,
all those daily blessings
like the air we breathe.
We take the air, the rain, the sunshine
as just there, like they will always be…
but did you ever think about,
what if we had no grass or trees?
What if we never heard birds singing?
What if there were no fishes in the sea?
What if there were no flowers blooming
in our gardens, across the lea,
no insects, no pollination,
what if we had no food to eat?
Could all these daily blessings
even in this world so flawed
possibly, just possibly
be blessings sent by God?

We think that we got lucky
when a car careening down the street
barely misses us by inches
but could it possibly
be God’s intervention,
perhaps some angel there
that saved us from disaster,
some angel unaware,
unseen, that turned that wheel just slightly,
just enough so it would pass.
Had God not intervened
we might have breathed out last.

When your skies are gray and cloudy
and not much joy in life you find
then something starts you laughing
and you see the sun still shines
even on life’s stormy days
and the day’s not quite so bad.
Was it God that somehow intervened
to brighten up the sad,
tried and tested moments
as through this life we plod;
could those moments of happy
maybe be a gift from God?

When frustration overtakes you
because of a flat tire
that makes you late for an appointment
but then you hear that there’s a fire,
an explosion, just a mile on down the road;
and your journey would have brought you there
had your tire not gone flat
and you stopped to do the repair…
And you think that you got lucky
but maybe it was God
who intervened protecting you;
maybe our thinking’s flawed;
You think? Could it be just possibly,
just maybe it was God?
God is watching, reaching out to us
even when we don’t believe…
When we’re too busy to acknowledge Him,
He’s still looking out for you and me,
loving us, protecting us,
providing all we need.

We so seldom really think of God,
oh maybe for an hour on Sunday,
but we live such busy, hectic lives
God is forgotten by sunrise Monday;
yet God is always with us.
He’s not just some legend from the past
and He wants to share our life with us.
If we’d let Him and we’d ask,
He’d lead us on a safer path
and we’d know a lot less strife,
have fewer worries, less frustration…
He is the way, the truth, the life,
the light shining in our darkness
when life pushes us around,
the hope for a bright tomorrow
when the world would knock us down.

It’s God makes good things happen,
not some stroke of luck,
and God who lifts us up again
when we’re stuck in a rut.
It is God who puts the positive
in this world so badly flawed…
Nothing is impossible
put in the hands of God.
Perhaps we should appreciate more often
all those blessings coming down,
not just on Sunday for an hour
but when Monday rolls around
and every day we’re living
though life is busy, life is flawed.
When something good, some awesome happens,
Could it possibly be God?
