In my journey down life’s highway
I’m impressed with what I’ve learned
The wonderful people I have known
And the friendships that I’ve earned

Greeting people from all walks of life
Nary a stranger have I met
Some have remained forever friends
While others, I’d just as soon forget

Nowadays, it’s much harder to do
As we strive to be politically correct
Though I favor neither color nor class
Even I’m not perfect yet

It always pleases me no end
When friends and family come to call
My traveling days are behind me now
But it doesn’t bother me at all

So, I sit here patiently waiting
For my journey to Heaven’s abode
In the meantime, if you’re looking for me
You can find me just down the road
