Amidst the brambles and thorns,
on the side of the mountainside,
stumbling, faltering, to reach the summit,
where the light on top is my guide.
Picking through the massive clutter,
debris strewn all about the trail way,
shuddering in disbelief and the neglect,
realizing the mess I'm leaving on the pathway.
There on the summit stands a lone figure,
the One I'm trying to reach this moment,
who represents my trials and tribulations,
who suffered in my place at Atonement.
Knowing there is a future life,
free from all wrong choices, doubts,
that Jesus Christ is my Salvation,
He died, rose from the dead, that's what it's all about.
He loves us so much and now stands,
awaiting us as we climb up to the top,
He reaches a hand down to help us,
reaching the summit, we stop.
A view so awesome, so breathtaking,
the sky colorful, streaked with clouds,
best of all, is my companion, my friend,
together we watch the dawn unbowed.
Hearing the flapping of nearby bird's wings,
rustling bushes where small animals hide,
marveling at the closeness of nature's creatures,
savoring the crisp mountain air, He confides.
Look towards Me on the highest mountain,
my staff brings security, much love to thee,
I'm always there in times of need,
come closer, let me help you be free.
No more wandering, straying from the path,
Jesus, my Savior, has shown me the Way,
He walks along with me, loves me so much,
I'm on the mountaintop, I kneel and pray.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto
a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
I Peter 1:3
"Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead,
and gave him glory that your faith and hope might be in God."
I Peter 1:21
