The sun hasn't always shown,
bright and shining to my eyes.
Sometimes the burdens of the day,
takes the center of attention, I cry.
Like the caterpillar, I cuddled in my cocoon,
retreating from all the world's troubles.
Thinking it would solve my problems,
till it went away, like popping bubbles.
Till one day, a light began to shine,
when my friend brought me to a church.
I listened, I sang, learned something new,
reading the Holy Bible, I began my search.
One day it opened up, a whole new world,
the sun was shining, everything looked bright.
I had a new friend, who would always be with me,
His name was Jesus, who finally set me free.
You see, He died on a cross, lonely, rejected,
took all our sins with Him, for you and for me.
His Spirit is now within us, to guide and lead,
help us make decisions, it's a guarantee.
The other day I walked in the nearby park,
noticing the trees; plants; flowers in bloom.
I couldn't help singing, my joy bursting out,
Jesus, my Savior, brought me out of the gloom.
Like a butterfly flittering among the flowers,
I delighted in discoveries I had forgotten about.
Yes, life is precious, never forget that fact,
Jesus took all my burdens, I want to shout.
"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
