"I press toward the mark
for the prize of the high
calling of God in Christ
Jesus. ......Phil. 3: 14.
***************
The soul of man has been said
to be like a ship that sails
on the seas of time. We are as
a vessel of God, made to honor
and give Him glory. Our sails
may be fragile, but Jesus is
the wind beneath our wings and
the one who pilots our ship
through this life safely home.
We are to press forward toward
the mark for the prize of the
high calling in Christ Jesus.
His Word is as a compass that
directs our soul safely
through to heaven's shores.
The waters of this life may be
troubled and the waves may
toss one about, but we have
One who calms the troubled
waters and whispers "peace be
still." Storms never last with
Jesus as the One who pilots
our ship.
Each soul is passing through
this life and today we are one
day closer home than
yesterday. Just as the ancient
mariners looked to the stars
to pilot their ships safely as
they sailed, we also look to
the Star of David, our Lord,
who is our Bright and Morning
Star. He is the Daystar that
shines down on us as he lets
his love shine through us in
the darkest night.
We never know when the Day of
the Lord shall be, or when He
shall call or come for us in
the clouds. We are to be ready
to meet Him at all times. Our
ship that sails on life's seas
must be keep by Him as only
Jesus can safely pilot us
through unknown waters in this
life. If we are anchored to
Jesus, we have no fear as we
will never drift too far from
shore without our anchor being
there to hold us safely in
Him. We also have a Lighthouse
that safely guides us. Jesus
is all of this and more to his
children. He is all we ever
need in this life and for all
eternity.
In this life there are many
perishing. We must launch out
into the deep and be "fishers
of men" in this world to carry
out God's plan for His Church
on earth. Many do not have a
sure anchor in their lives and
no security for their future.
As we sail safely on, we can
help others find the way to
their heavenly home. One day
the old Gospel Ship of Zion
will set sail for heaven's
shores. The passenger list has
room for "whosoever will" come
to the Lord. He is still
calling souls to "get on
board" and join the gospel
crew. Until the day when the
old Gospel Ship sails away, He
will keep us safe in Him.
Vessels of God can become
burdened by the cares and
problems of this life. We must
cast all of our cares upon the
Lord and let Him lighten the
load as He brightens our road
each day. There is nothing too
hard for our God to do.
May we help share the
invitation of the Lord as we
testify of the saving grace,
mercy, and love of the Lord.
With Jesus as our
'Anchor and Rock' in a weary
land, we can be secure in
stormy weather and know we
have a solid foundation. The
Anchor still holds today as it
did over 2,000 years ago. On
Christ the Solid Rock we
stand....all other ground is
just sinking sand!
